Ludwig Maximilian University in Munich is building a new GeoCampus for geosciences and environmental sciences at its Sendlinger Tor campus. A modern new building designed by Gerber Architekten is currently under construction at the corner of Schillerstraße and Pettenkoferstraße, which will bring all geoscience disciplines together under one roof in the future. The new building will offer contemporary spaces for research, teaching, collections, and exhibitions, and will promote interdisciplinary exchange. A central element is the planned "Forum of Geosciences," which is intended to make science accessible to the public. The Munich State Building Authority provides ongoing information about the construction progress on its own project website.

The media are also covering the project, according to the Süddeutsche Zeitung, which attributes the new building to a "breath of fresh air throughout the department" (September 24, 2024).
